Exploring the Magic of Yoga at GIIS KL

Imagine a room filled with focused energy, not the kind of focused energy you see before an exam, but a calmer, more centered kind. This was the scene in the GIIS Auditorium on Wednesday, March 20th, as students from Years 5 to 11 embarked on a journey of self-discovery through a special Yoga Workshop!

The workshop, aligned with our GIIS KL's mission to cultivate well-rounded individuals (Gem 4) of the 9Gems Holistic Framework and to promote good health in line with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 3, was led by the inspiring Ms. Atmarpit Shraddhaji.

The practical part of the workshop began with the introduction of basic yoga postures, or asanas. These weren't complicated contortions; they were gentle movements designed to improve flexibility and build strength. Laughter filled the room as students discovered muscles they never knew existed, and a sense of accomplishment washed over them as they mastered each move.

The workshop wasn't just about physical movement; it was about connecting mind and body. Ms. Shraddhaji's gentle guidance helped students focus on their breath, a simple yet powerful tool for managing stress and promoting relaxation. As the session came to a close, a sense of calm pervaded the room. Students left the auditorium not just with a newfound appreciation for yoga, but with a toolkit of techniques to manage the pressures of student life.
